head finished

the final stage i rendered the head and put it into Photoshop to start adding skintone using photo filtres, selective colour, curves and levels. finally overlaying some of the skin texture from the flattened 360 of eds head. this helped make it more realistic as i am overlaying part of a real photo. i was able to keep the shadows the same because when i took the picture (pictures) of ed i used the flash on every part so the skin was flat and just the texture. adding details like hairs and eyelashes really helped lift the image in much the same way as adding pours to the sculpt. the overall i am very pleased with considering its my first attempt at such a detailed sculpt.  If people mistake it for a photo then i will be very chuffed :D. but there is that iry not quite real feel still ... a stillness like a wax model which i kind of like because it makes you look twice. sculpts like this although i've used blur to create more depth like a photograph it will be possible to take that away like a drawing i can harness all the detail i want.
The expression of the face instead of being "generic" has become very much like the man is thinking or meditating. its amazing how i can subtly change the pose and the expression and feel of the pose could completely change. having that power to change how i see fit is something that really appeals to me.
moving on to the final project i want to study the human skin (see final proposal) next thing to do is  make a realistic hand like this head but based on my hand. a hand i imagine will be more challenging as i cant use the symmetry like on a head. the skin detail also may be more challenging with finger prints and overlapping when the fingers are clenched. On Thursday i am attending an all day life drawing class. i will use this to study the human form in detail to use as reference for sculpts like this.
