DAY 4

Last night I made my sculpture using some left over plastic strips, pins, ball pit ball,
wire and a couple of elastic bands (picture needed)
today the activity was to draw what we made and what our partner has made but in different ways not necercrerly worrying about form or shadow or texture together but choosing a specific one to focus on. Lots of new technics that I may use in the future the ones I most enjoyed were the one were u had to feel and continues line but without looking at the page. I think I liked these ones dew to them adding a new dimension to the work to draw by feel you could easily get lost and after I finished the drawing I almost whish I had got lost around the object creating forms by merging part of the object together. The other one exploded the object and really opened upp the idea of scale. It may be benifitual to me to try both together and see what the out come is. Also because in the past I have done photography I could apply this continues line technique to a photo by merging the drawing an photo together to create a mashed up serial object another thing to try.
I did come across some difficulty when asked to draw just the form and not use lines and found my self just drawing the shadow which I don’t think was right so I should look at some form studies and see if I can work out a technique. Simon showed me a good way to get straight or curved edges with a piece of paper and scalpel so maybe I should try and cut out some curves and see if I can just draw the form of my global looking object.
Another way of drawing we did was just drawing with symbols stepping back it looks like a normal drawing but going up close you find an entire new detail a usful idea if I want to add another interest/dimension to my work. Experimenting how we draw a line more showed me the great range of a pencil hopefully with practice I can create a bit more space within my image. Like the first day contrast creates space in the image so when we came to drawing texture I tried to really emphasize the wire to the rubber with soft lines verses hard edged solid lines.
In are evolution there were some artists names mentioned that I should research next when im in the library. Chuck close, sigma pul, pual clay.

Another thing I did today was doodle using the same approach as I did on the first day but using a thin scratchy pen and came up with this image of some sort of growth with box bubbles attempting to control. I find it fasernating starting drawing with no incentive of an out come but looking back I relies it is most likely a response to my surrounding area of the campus where there is growth of plants everywhere being broken by buildings. Would look really good as a hanging sculpture (to pasue further)
